
Baldwin City, Kan. - The No. 18 Central Methodist Volleyball program defeated Heart foe Baker University in four sets by scores of 25-11, 25-23, 23-25, and 25-17.
With the win, Central improves its overall record to 13-3 and 3-1 in the Heart of America. Baker falls to 8-4 and 1-3 in conference play.
CMU cruised to a 25-11 win in set one followed by a narrow 25-23 win in the second set. Baker responded by coming back and taking set three 25-23, before Central closed the match out in set four, winning 25-17.
Super senior Annabelle Maassen led all attackers with 16 kills for a .333 hitting percentage. The native of Jefferson City also tallied 12 digs to secure a double double. Additionally, she registered three blocks.
The duo of Mia Trankler and Joana Milho each added seven kills while Martina Gonzato and Kelsie Walker both added four.
Lauryn Farish finished the evening with three kills on seven swings.
Freshman setter Giulia Gainelli dished out a team-best 27 assists while also tallying 11 digs to join Maassen in the double double club. The Verona, Italy native also recorded two service aces. Senior Gabi Owczarek dished out 18 assists, recorded eight digs and a service ace.
Senior libero Rita Campos finished the evening with a team-leading 24 digs.
The Eagles remain on the road and will take on rival Missouri Valley College Friday Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Marshall, Mo.
