Fayette, Mo. - The No. 19 Central Methodist volleyball program opened the weekend with a three-set sweep against Texas A&M-Texarkana into the late hours Friday night inside Puckett Field House.
CMU defeated Texarkana by scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-19.
Central improves their overall record to 5-0, while TAMT falls to 2-8.
Junior Joana Milho finished the evening with 14 kills on 25 swings for a .400 hitting percentage. She also picked up three digs. Super senior Annabelle Maassen joined Milho in double digit kills with 11. She also added 13 digs to secure a double double.
Leticia Berea recorded eight kills, one block and a dig. Giulia Gainelli dished out a team-high 20 assists while Gabi Owczarek finished the night with 14. Additionally, Gainelli tallied four digs and a team-leading three service errors. Owczarek nearly secured a double double with eight digs.
Rita Campos led the defense with 15 digs and added two assists and two service aces.
Central's defense held Texarkana to .038 hitting and forced 23 attack errors.
The Eagles will face off against two more opponents to close out tournament play, beginning with No. 18 Columbia College Saturday, Sept. 7 at 9:00 a.m.
