
Fayette, Mo. - The No. 16 Central Methodist Volleyball program earned its third consecutive sweep, defeating Peru State College in straight sets by scores of 25-8, 25-13, and 25-13 Friday night inside Puckett Field House.
The Eagles improve to 15-6 and 8-5 in conference action, while the Bobcats fall to 6-14 and 3-7 in the Heart.
Central's offense started out hot, hitting .450 in the first set on nine kills. Peru State struggled to find an offensive rhythm, hitting negative in the opening frame. The Eagle's defense held the Bobcats to a .114 hitting percentage in set two, followed by .057 in the third.
The duo of Annabelle Maassen and Callie Henson led CMU's offense with nine kills apiece. Maassen nearly tallied a double-double, as the sophomore from Jefferson City added 15 digs.
Fellow sophomore Delaney Miller notched seven kills on 14 swings paired with a match-high four blocks. Sydney Healy added six kills with a dig and a block.
Marina Alonso dished out a match-high 20 assists in addition to five digs and two service aces. Gabi Owczarek recorded 13 assists paired with four digs and one service ace.
Joining Maassen in double-digits were both Krystal Brauner (16) and Shea Luby (11).
Overall, Central finished the evening with a .303 hitting percentage, compared to .048 for Peru State. The Eagles' defense forced 17 errors and racked up eight blocks.
The Eagles head out on the road for the first of a three-game road swing, beginning with MidAmerica Nazarene University Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Olathe, Kan. MNU won the first matchup between the two squads 3-1 back on Sept. 30 in Fayette.
