
Maryville, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Track and Field program posted a fourth place finish at the Heart of America Indoor Conference Championships this past weekend in Maryville, Missouri.
The Eagles placed fourth after tallying 104.5 total team points. It marks the second straight year Central has posted a fourth-place standing.
CMU produced three individual conference champions, led by Hugo Massa, who won the 800m run with time of 1:52.91, a new conference record and meeting the 'A' standard for qualification in the 2025 NAIA National Championships. Massa also placed third in the 600m run with a time of 1:19.86, setting a new schol record along the way.
Brayton Stephenson won the shot put with a throw of 16.87 meters.
Ethan Smith won the heptathlon after tallying 4767 total points. During the seven-event competition, Smith won the pole vault and posted top three finishes in the long jump, shot put, high jump and 60m hurdles.
Additionally, Smith earned a second place standing in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.15 meters.
Colder Evans earned a silver medal in the weight throw with a final toss of 17.00 meters. He also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 16.19 meters.
The breakdown for all-conference selections is first place = first team, second place = second team, and third place = third team. Fourth, fifth, and sixth-place finishers all earn honorable mention all-conference honors.
The Eagles will turn their attention to the NAIA Indoor National Championships, set to begin Thursday, Feb. 27 in Gainesville, Fla.
