Fayette, Mo. - The No. 22 Central Methodist Baseball team split the final two days of the Show-Me-Showdown Sunday afternoon at Estes Field.
Central fell to (RV) Oklahoma City in the first game of the day, 6-4, before bouncing back with a 22-1 win over (RV) Columbia College in the finale.
Against the Stars, the Eagles fell behind 2-1 heading into the final three innings of play. Central plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth including a two-run home run from Tanner Sears, and a solo shot from Carlos Negron.
For the first time in the game, Central held a 4-2 lead heading into the top of the sixth. The Stars answered right back, scoring three on a three-run home run to left field to regain the lead 5-4. An RBI single in the top of the seventh plated one more run for the Stars, making the final score 6-4 in favor of OCU.
In the final game of the Showdown, Central's bats dominated from start to finish, scoring 22 runs on 20 hits.
Wede led the offense with four hits, while both Sears and Diego Da Rin picked up three hits each. Jeremy Conforti drove in a game-high four RBI followed by Bobby Nichols, Valentin Cerna Jr. and Da Rin with three. Nichols and Joseph Weatherford each hit a home run.
Foster Seitz earned the win, pitching four complete innings and giving up just one earned run on five hits while striking out four batters. Justin Stedry, Alexander Billo, and Landon Winingham each tossed an inning as well.
The Eagles now stand at 11-3 through their first 14 games of the year.
Central opens up conference play beginning with a four-game weekend series against Graceland University Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Estes Field.
