Eagles Split Final Day of Cajun Collision

Eagles Split Final Day of Cajun Collision

Sterlington, La. - The Central Methodist Baseball team split the final day of the Cajun Collision Saturday in Sterlington, Louisiana.

The Eagles began the day with a tough 10-1 loss against No. 2 nationally ranked Georgia Gwinnett.

Central then bounced back with a 4-0 shut out win over LSU-Alexandria in the final game of the tournament.

Against the Grizzlies, Central had a hard time getting the bats going, as the Eagles finished with just four hits and a pair of walks. Valentin Cerna Jr., Carlos Negron, Diego Da Rin, and David Soriano all picked up a base hit, including a double for Negron.

Foster Seitz got the start on the bump, tossing the first four innings before Justin Guzman finished the game out through the final three innings.

In their 4-0 shut out of the Generals, Central plated four runs on five hits including an RBI double for Negron and a double for Da Rin. In addition, Da Rin also recorded an RBI-single in the sixth inning.

Clayton Burke earned his first win of the year, throwing six complete innings and giving up no runs on just four hits and one walk. He also struck out three batters in the victory.

Landon Winingham came in relief for the final inning to preserve the shut out for the CMU pitching staff.

Central now stands at 5-1, and will next host Roosevelt for a doubleheader Friday, Feb. 16 at 12:00 p.m. at Estes Field.
