Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist University Department of Athletics hosted the 6th annual Celebrating Eagle Athletics Auction last Friday night inside Puckett Field House.
"The athletic auction is always a great event," said President Roger Drake. "It is heartwarming to see our Eagle community come out to support our stellar athletic programs."
The auction, which serves as Central Methodist Athletics' largest fundraiser of the year, raised over $90,000 to support its student-athletes. Over 160 silent auction items and a number of big-ticket live items were featured including; a Regatta Bay Luxury Condo Package at the Lake of the Ozarks and Mrs. Judy Drake's famour Gooseberry pie.
In addition, the evening featured a student-athlete Q&A with current CMU student-athletes, football player Davion Stockard, and softball player Madison White, who discussed their time at Central Methodist and what they are looking forward to this upcoming year.
"I was very appreciative of CMU Athletics for allowing me to speak at this year's auction," said Stockard. I felt so fortunate that I was able to share my story with so many people that care about Central Methodist. To be able to see individuals directly give back to the university that I love to help myself and fellow student-athletes was truly incredible."
The live auction was hosted by Dick Hutchison '83, and Dick Hutchison Auction and Real Estate LLC.
Proceeds, which directly benefit CMU Athletics, go towards the educational and athletic success of our student-athletes from providing books, equipment, and apparel needs, to assiststing with championship travel cost. The graduation of our student-athletes and the journey to championships would not be possible without the continued support.
