Francis "Gene" Reardon enters his 15th season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in 2019-20.
Reardon was recognized in 2015 and 2019 as the Assistant Coach of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
The Eagles boasted an overall record of 9-5 last season before spring sports were abruptly canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reardon oversaw a softball squad that held a 31-18 record in 2019, earning the No. 3 seed in the Heart Conference Tournament. Under his tutelage, the offense continues to make strides which included setting high marks for average and home runs in 2019.
He is a retired senior executive of the Department of Defense (DOD), where, as the Auditor General of the Army, he led an organization of more than 800 auditors. He also served as the Acting Principal Deputy Inspector General for the DOD.
Reardon is a graduate of Washburn University, where he earned an accounting degree and lettered four years in baseball. His senior year, Reardon received All-American honors for baseball. He has a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and is a licensed CPA in the state of Virginia.
Reardon is head coach Pat Reardon’s dad and enjoys being able to spend time with his son on the softball field. Gene and his wife, Melody, reside in Billingsville, Mo. They have another son, Kyle, who lives in Anchorage, Alaska, with his wife Kristin and grandsons Luke and Owen.
