No. 3 Central Sweeps Peru State on Senior Day

Fayette, Mo. - The No. 3 Central Methodist Softball team completed a doubleheader sweep of Peru State College Sunday afternoon at Cox Softball Complex.

Central secured the sweep by scores of 6-0 and 9-0. At the conclusion of the doubleheader, Central honored its 2024 senior class which included Emily Elliot, Abbie Neally, Bre Hollowell, Abbie Marshall, Natalie Guerrero, Haile Farris, Madison White, and Kelena Oots

In game one, Oots finished the day with two hits in three at-bats including a double. She also crossed the plate twice.

Joely Crider got the scoring started for CMU in the first inning with an RBI-single to the infield. Madison Roberts would single back up the middle in the third to bring Kaysie Jolley around to score.

A two-RBI double from Lauren Hill plated the third and fourth runs of the game, while a double from Elizabeth Palumbo to right center scored both Jolley and Oots.

Senior Haile Farris earned her 11th win of the year inside the circle, throwing a complete game shut out. The Camdenton, Missouri native allowed no runs on seven hits and two walks. She also struck out seven batters in the win.

Central secured a run-rule win in five innings in the final game of the doubleheader. The Eagles went to work quickly, scoring four runs in the first and five in the second.

CMU got production from up and down the batting lineup, as six different Eagles tallied a hit.

Roberts and Carly Robbins each drove in a pair of runners, including a two-RBI double for Roberts in the first.

Kaysie Jolley doubled to center in the second to plate Oots. In addition, the Eagles scored twice on wild pitches from Peru State and Lauren Hill drew a bases loaded walk.
