Eric Moore Makes History with Individual Championship at NAIA Midwest Region Tournament

Lawrence, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's and Women's Bowling teams competed in a pair of tournaments at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kansas over the weekend. 

The weekend was split into two separate tournaments called the NAIA Midwest Open Tournament, with the first tournament taking place on Saturday, followed by the second on Sunday.

Tournament No. 1:

On Saturday, the CMU men placed 18th through the qualifiers with 5897 total pins. 

Senior Eric Moore once again led the way for CMU with a 13th-place finish through five games bowled, knocking down 1049 pins. He bowled on average 209 pins/frame.

Cole Johnson finished 22nd through five games with a score of 999. Kenneth Lolley also bowled five games for the Eagles. 

For the CMU women, the Eagles placed 17th with a team score of 2503. 

Lauren Williams (54th, 681), and Maya Elliot (55th, 673) led the Eagles in individual finishes. 

Tournament No. 2:

The Eagles made history Sunday as Moore won the individual title with a final score of 1422 through seven games. It marked the first individual championship for the program in school history. The native of Macon, Missouri averaged 203.1 pins/game on his way to the individual championship. 

Johnson placed 30th with a score of 1192, followed by Colton Carrier (42nd, 1117), Lolley (59th, 995), and Dustin Linneman (79th, 749 through six games). 

As a team, the Eagles placed 15th with a final team score of 5622. 

For the women, Central placed 17th with Williams (70th, 802), Elliott (72nd, 764), and Whitfield (96th, 476) all competing.

Both teams will be back in action in two weeks at the Cedar Valley Invite in Waterloo, Iowa.
