
Atchison, Kan. - The Central Methodist Women's Basketball program suffered a tough 78-48 road loss to Benedictine College Wednesday in Atchison, Kan.
With the loss, Central now stands at 7-13 and 4-12 in the Heart of America, while BC improves to 15-3 and 12-2 in conference action.
Central kept pace with the Ravens in the first, trailing by just four entering the second frame. CMU opened the second with five straight points, highlighted by a three from senior guard Kayhla Adams.
Benedictine answered right back with a three to take a 24-22 lead. BC never trailed again, as they led Central 37-28 at the halftime break.
The Eagles came within three on a pair of made free throws from Sa'Mya Stevens at the 7:06 mark of the third. But BC would hold Central scoreless for the next three and a half minutes, going on an 8-0 scoring run.
Holding a 17 point lead to start the fourth, Benedictine held Central to just nine points in the final frame to come away with a convincing 74-48 win.
Both Stevens and Nautica Washington finished the evening in double figures with 10 points, which included three assists, two rebounds, and a steal for Washington.
Adams nearly cracked double figures with nine points in 19 minutes on the floor.
Sharay Trotter tallied eight points, four assists, three steals and a rebound.
Benedictine took care of business on the boards, outrebounding CMU 44-25. The Eagles converted just one three-point basket on the night and shot 61.1 percent from the charity stripe.
Central returns home to host Clarke University Saturday, Jan. 5 at 12:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
