Eagles Open Season with 101-89 Victory over Harris-Stowe

Eagles Open Season with 101-89 Victory over Harris-Stowe

Fayette, Mo. -  The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team opened up their regular season campaign with a 101-89 victory against the Harris-Stowe State Hornets Saturday afternoon inside Puckett Field House.

Six different Eagles landed in double figures, including four in the starting five.

CMU was led by senior guard Mario Fantina, who scored 20 points. The Croatia native was deadly from beyond the arc, knocking down six-of-seven three point baskets in his Eagle debut.

Brandon Tchouya contributed 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds, helping his team establish a commanding presence in the latter stages of the game.

Destin Jenkins matched Tchouya with 14 points while both Kevin James and Austin Prater each chipped in 13.

Central's shooting was outstanding from all areas of the hardwood, as the Eagles shot 53 percent from the floor, 38.5 percent from three, and 72.4 percent from the charity stripe.

CMU's excellent ball movement was also notable, as they dished out assists on 24 of their 35 made baskets.

Central also dominated the glass, using their size to outrebound the Hornets, 44-30.

The Eagles will look to continue their good form on Monday against Haskell Indian Nations University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. inside Puckett Fieldhouse.
