Eagles outpace Saints 89-47 on Saturday night

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's basketball team tallied their second-straight 40-plus point victory, as the Eagles cruised past Central Christian College of the Bible, 89-47 Saturday night at Puckett Field House.

The Eagles improve to 2-0 overall to start the season.

Central built a comfortable first-half lead, and entered the locker room with a 46-16 advantage. Despite only outscoring the Saints 43-31 in the second half, CMU would still secure a convincing victory by 42 points.

Three of Central's five starters reached double figures, as senior forward Fode Camara led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds, nearly securing a double-double. He also recorded three steals and an assist.

Jonathan Brown and Dwayne McClendon each tallied 13 points, while Thomas Sowoolu finished the evening with 11. Brown matched Camara with nine boards, also nearly recording a double-double.

CMU's defense held the Saints' offense to 18.8-percent shooting from the floor and forced 11 turnovers. Central dominated the battle of the boards, grabbing 67 rebounds compared to just 27 for the Saints.

The Eagles will next face former Heart member Avila University Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
